Leatherman Charge TTi
Leatherman was the original multi-tool and still one of the most well-known brands. As manufacturing and tool technology has changed, so has Leatherman.
One of the most innovative multi-tools that Leatherman has made in the last few years is the Wave. The Wave has the ability to open the knife blade without opening the multi-tool. It makes deploying the blade to cut something much faster and only requires one hand.
The Charge TTi is essentially a Wave, only better. Why is it better? First of all, the Charge TTi comes with a pocket clip so no sheath is necessary for convenient carry of the tool. Secondly, the plain-edged knife is made of CPM-S30V. The CPM S30V blade holds an edge longer than the other offerings, 420HC or 154CM on the Charge AL.
The Charge TTi has the plain knife blade and a serrated blade that are both capable of being opened with one hand. A thin liner-lock locks the blades open. A saw blade and file are also on the outside of the tool and can be utilized without opening the pliers.
Opening the pliers reveals small scissors, one flat-blade screwdriver, a can opener, and both large and small drivers.
The only downside to the Charge TTi is its' size. Folded, it measures 4" long and 3/4" thick. It weighs in at 8 ounces.
Where the Charge TTi is at its' best, in my opinion, is for people who prefer not to carry both a folding knife and a multi-tool. The Charge TTi can do double duty with ease. So if its' size and weight don't scare you away, take a look at one.
