Comp-tac Infidel Holster Review
Comp-tac has developed a well known reputation for making quality kydex holsters. They have offered high quality inside-the-waistband (IWB) kydex holsters since the beginning. I have always been a believer in IWB holsters for concealed carry. But in the past, I have worn leather IWB holsters because I felt that a kydex one would be uncomfortable.

One day while perusing the Comp-tac website, I noticed the Infidel IWB holster. It immediately struck me as a kydex version of an old standby, the Summer Special.
When it comes to concealed carry equipment, simpler is usually better, and the Infidel appeared to be simple in design yet well thought out. So I placed an order for an Infidel with leather belt loops. You can also purchase an extra strut to make the Comp-tac Inifdel tuckable.
Upon arrival, I was impressed with the craftmanship that went into the holster. The kydex molding was well done and the included hardware was quality. Not being able to leave anything alone, the first thing that I did was to drill out the snaps’ rivets and remove the snaps. I don’t have a need for the quick donning or doffing allowed by the snaps and they only add bulk to the belt loops. I resecured the loops directly to the holster with screws.
After the first couple of weeks of use, I also decided to cut the body shield off of the holster. I found that it interfered with thumb placement during the draw stroke. Doing so did not diminish comfort in my experience.
Fast forward a couple of years. The Infidel has been a regular in my carry holster rotation since receiving it, and I have found it to be a very high quality holster.
Recently, I also swapped the leather belt loops out for nylon straps which are less bulky.
In terms of comfort, I have found the Infidel to be almost as a good as a cowhide holster. I do find the lack of flex in the material to cause discomfort when driving for long periods of time.
When you consider the price and fast turn around times on orders, I think that the Infidel is a good alternative to leather holsters. Or, if you are in line for a leather IWB holster and need something to get by on until it arrives, take a look at the Comp-tac Infidel.

[...] It was full daylight when the cruiser we’d chartered pulled away from the dock at Everglades and headed for the Ten Thousand Islands, one of Southwest Florida’s most remote and weirdly beautiful fishing grounds. As the boat pushed along, I had a feeling of being swallowed up in an endless wilderness of swampland. Innumerable creeks forced themselves through mangrove thickets, saw grass, and water hyacinths, and emptied into fairyland lakes. I’d been told this was no place to be in without a competent guide, and I could easily see why. I was definitely happy that I was carrying my pistol in a Comp-tac Infidel holster. [...]
